Singing lessons

Grade 5 theory exam preparation

In order to progress from Grade 5 practical on an instrument you will need to pass your grade 5 theory exam. This is a written paper, sat in a formal examination environment, in silence and without reference to a piano or any other course materials on the day.

You will need to be able to answer all questions from the information in your head and this can take a considerable amount of study time beforehand depending on how much you have absorbed through your playing in practice.

You will need to complete the exam with a pass to move onto Grade 6 practical on your instrument. Once you have passed your grade 5 theory exam, you are allowed to take the grade 6 practical exam on any other instrument in the future as well, you do not need to take
it again.
